ASSISTING THE COMMUNITY AROUND US

UMOJA IS MORE THAN A CHILDREN’S HOME – WE ASSIST OUR COMMUNITY AROUND US IN MANY WAYS

Surrounding Umoja Orphanage Kenya is an impoverished community.

Since beginning Umoja Orphanage Kenya we have tried to include our community as much as we can, to be involved in the project in many ways whether it is being hired as casual labourers, part time employees, permanent employees, or being employed by contractors working on the project.  We have a lot to learn from each other.

We also have provided:

  • Water for the community from our well
  • Free first aid clinics
  • Dispersal of free reading glasses at health clinics
  • Dispersal of free sunglasses at health clinics
  • Continued ongoing medical assistance to severe wound cases within the community
  • Free personal hygiene clinics for menstruating girls
  • Free personal hygiene washable menstruation kits for girls to keep them in school
