In 5.5 years, Umoja and friends of Umoja have fundraised through official events and personal efforts including

- Garage sales
- Sporting match donations
- Sponsorship for personal goals, such as Mt Kilimanjaro climbs

- Donations and automatic transfer commitments
- Umoja writing competitions
- Guest speaking
- Third party fundraising
Together we have reached our milestones
Founder and volunteers from Umoja gave back to locals in Kenya by
- visiting other orphanages to help out wherever needed
- assisting in permaculture training for farmhands from other orphanages
- teaching and guiding orphanage staff on new learning strategies
- educating children in literacy, numeracy, and the arts
- engaging locals managers and contractors who will in turn employ other locals
- purchasing building materials from local retailers to help support their families
- employment of local Kenyans to build help build our perimeter fence employment of Mammas to cook for our training courses we hold on our land
- Casual employment of local Kenyans at planting time and harvesting time
- 2 Umoja team members sponsoring 2 Kenyan locals through sewing school to become a qualified tailer and through university to become a social worker for Umoja
Umoja has continued to uphold our vision by
- giving hope to orphaned and vulnerable children in Kenya
- raising money to begin building an orphanage that would give more children a second chance at life
- opening our orphanage on July 30th 2016
- making positive changes in the lives of local Kenyans by starting a cycle of employment
- remaining not-for-profit
